THE ROCK ISSUE

One of my biggest inspirations, besides PopArt and Tumblr, is definetely music. I love how music can inspire an entire look and how it influences you when you're dressing up. Some types of music remind us of some kind of outfit, or some kind of mixture of clothes. I'm not one of the biggest rock fans. At all. I'd rather listen to some pop, reggae or dancehall. But there are some classic bands that have a legacy that will live on, such has AC/DC, Kiss, Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Pink Floid and so many more, which sound reminds me of a type of style that I try to encorporate everday in my outfit. And rock music, to me (this is just my opinion) reminds me of black clothing, studds, boots, dark lips, leather jackets, messy hair, Wayfarers and high waisted shorts. And, when I say rock music, I mean heavy rock, with lots of electric guitars and drumming! I don't listen to rock music in my daily life. But, once I hear any of the songs above, I feel like putting on a rocker look like a leather jacket, my dark red lipstick, a pair a studded boots and some denim, like in a shirt. It's cool how music can inspire you and how it reflects on your outfit. Isn't that true that, when you see someone with a certain type of clothes, you can totally guess what their listening too? Well, don't get me wrong, even if I would look like a rocker chick, you know that I would still be listening to my one and only Rihanna ahah. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that rock music from the 60's and 70's transport me to a certain type of fashion that I like and that I think everyone also tries to reproduce. I mean, a leather jacket is an item that everyone should have (it's intemporal), high waited shorts is one key item in every girls' closet  and studds are taking over the world. Thank God.

streetstyle inspiration

For me fashion has a really special meaning. It is something I need. Something I crave. Something I want to feel around me. It's not just being well dressed or presentable. It's creating yourself through clothes. Communicating with others. Feeling good and, at the same time, being yourself. The fashion world might be compared to a complete circus sometimes. It might be extravagant sometimes but there's a border between that and being ridiculous. But what is being ridiculous anyway? Who am I to judge if what you're wearing is ridiculous or not? I mean, if your feel good with what you're wearing, why should I judge you? Apart from that, fashion for me is the mixture of textures. The way you create your outfits and become an individual. The way you mix colors, patterns. It's the way you express yourself and feel comfortable in your own skin. I have to be honest, I have a very particular taste, since one of my biggest inspirations is Pop Art. Keith Haring, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein are my muses and my Art Gods. My favorite colors are red, blue, white and black. I love long skirts, denim, statement t-shirts and everything that's studded. I am already seeing military style all over the place and I can't help but hating it. I don't know, probably that's because I'm not a big fan of green. But what I mean is that I may don't follow what everybody wears or "what's fashionable" but, at least, I feel comfortable in my own skin. I like to be edgy sometimes, but I can be low profile aswell. The important thing is to find a balance. I also love some things that "everybody has", such as earings, necklaces and rings with crosses. But, for example, Jeffrey Campbell boots weren't just made for me. I actually hate them. I prefer loafers and mocassins. In the end, I believe you're supposed to wear what reflects your personality the best way has possible and you have to be true to yourself. You're an unique person. Don't forget that. Being fashionable doesn't mean you have to wear what everybody is wearing. It means finding yourself and believing that, when you walk out the door, you feel good in your own skin. Isn't that right?

Dope bloggers and stuff like that: I AM GALLA

As a fashion blogger from a small country, it is really hard for me to find male bloggers with good blogs and a style that I like, whithout being completely outrageous and with outfits which aim is just to call everyone's attention. Everybody knows that my favorite portuguese male blogger is Zé from 2X Nº1. Besides being one of my best friends and a person that I really look up to, his style is impecable and his choices are really bold. So, last week, when I was cruisin' around LOOKBOOK, I found this amazing blogger which, in my opinion, is one of the best male bloggers around the world. Today I bring you Adam Gallagher, the author of the blog I AM GALLA. This boy is not only a fashion blogger, he is also a personal shopper, a wardrobe stylist, a model and a photographer. And he also enjoys skateboarding, how cool is that? All boys should learn from him how to look good but simple at the same time. Look what he is wearing. All his pieces are just plain classic and not extravangant at all. His choices are smart and every single piece fits him like a glove. I like his polos and his shirts. The way he matches the colors in his outfits is so clean. And, with the Ray-Bans, I feel a James Dean vibe going on there. If you don't follow his blog, I strongly advise you to. And, boys, take notes. You might learn something.
